I'm getting ready for the Super Zoo convention in Las Vegas. I'm not going as a vendor. I'm just going to network. I'm hosting a happy hour on September 11 with LuxeMutt at THEHotel. We have Frenchie Winery sponsoring the event! Yay! Downtown Dog has a sponsor for it's very first event!!!!!
Logos have always been tough for me because I want to LOVE it not just like it. My favorite ex employee Lanny came over for a rare appearance to work on the logo and give me Adobe Illustrator lessons. I've been meaning to learn it for a LONG time but was too intimated. I wish I would have done it long ago!

We made this logo in around 5 hours. I could normally take weeks but Lanny Markasky and I have been working together for a long time and I had a reference board on Pinterest that really helped. I love it. 

Today we are redesigning this round on square logo to fit all the typical banner sizes that I will run into. I don't have time to do all of the sizes I might wish I had but here are the dimensions that I've decided on. The Entirenet changes so quickly that I don't know how long these sizes will be relevant. Leaderboard 728 x 90, Full Banner 468 x 60, Half Banner 234 x 60, Square Button 123 x125, and Skyscraper 120 x 600. 

 I'm working on my photography for my product shots for my Etsy.com store. I would love it if you would check out the photos and offer any comments on what I can do to improve them?

I have a fair amount of Facebook friends but I've never met over half of them in person. I want to create interest in my new business, but I'm still in development so I don't want to totally open the doors until I'm ready. I do want my real friends an family to help with development and be my focus group so I invited only the people that I really know to "like" my new page. I got 26 likes in the first day which I think is substantial and encouraging. You have to ask for the likes. They don't just come to you. Don't be shy! Your friends want to be involved. 

Here's a screen shot of my google analytics. I was getting 0-1 hits a day. This site was just a place holder with very little content but I updated it and made it relevant before I invited anyone to come see it. I didn't send out an email blast or invite my Facebook friends yet. When someone "liked" my new Facebook page, I thanked them and invited them to be a part of my focus group. I gave them a link to this website and asked them to stay tuned. Almost half of the people that liked my Facebook page came over to my website and look how long they stayed on the site!!!! Almost an hour! Pretty incredible!

I don't have a product ready for market yet so why am I blogging and setting up a social network now? I've found through experience that social networks are hard to build. There is so much content out there in cyber space and so the competition is fierce. The sooner you get started, the better in my opinion. 

I'm selling a handmade eco friendly product so these are the social networks that I've decided to work on:

Facebook: I'm using Facebook because it's HUGE (now) and I am very comfortable with it. I have around 1200 friends already on my personal page so I'm hoping that I can bring some of them over to my product page.

Etsy.com: This is not only a community but a place for a virtual store. They have respectable sales and traffic.

Pinterest.com: You have to get an invitation to use Pinterest which I just received so I haven't done anything on the site yet.

I think that any start up will take you in directions that you never imagined. Having a following early isn't just important for future sales, but for having a dedicated focus group that will help minimize the bumps along the way.
